Adhan and prayer times

An ad-free adhan app that sounds the moment the prayer time begins

Mihruna shows the prayer times for your city and sounds the adhan exactly when the time begins, not five minutes before or after. No ads, no tracking.

01

Why adhan notifications run late, and what Mihruna does

In most apps notifications are delayed for minutes by the phone’s battery saving. On Android, Mihruna uses the system’s exact alarm mechanism: the adhan starts the moment the time begins, even with the app closed and the screen locked. A “Stop” button in the notification silences it with one tap.

On iPhone the adhan plays as the notification sound; because iOS limits how long a notification sound may be, the length of the adhan is whatever the operating system allows.

02

Where the prayer times come from

Times are calculated through the Aladhan service for the place you choose and are labelled “calculated” on screen, together with the method used. They may differ by a few minutes from your local official timetable; for time-critical moments such as imsak and iftar, rely on the official timetable where you live.

03

You choose which prayers sound the adhan

  • Turn the adhan on or off per prayer; the “Adhan sound” switch on the home screen controls them all with one tap.
  • Fajr uses a separate recording that includes “as-salatu khayrun mina-n-nawm”; the standard recording is never relabelled as Fajr.
  • Prefer a silent notification or a reminder before the time (for example 10 minutes earlier) instead.
  • Recordings are openly licensed; each one was listened to and approved, with source and attribution listed in the app.
04

Privacy

What reaches the server for prayer times is the public centre point of the place you chose, not your phone’s GPS position. The app has no ads, analytics or trackers and works without an account.

How to use it

Set up the adhan in three steps

  1. Search for your city or district and select it; times load right away.
  2. Turn on “Adhan sound” on the home screen; on Android, grant the exact-alarm and notification permissions if asked.
  3. Optionally switch individual prayers off, or choose a reminder only, in Notification settings.

Common questions

Does the adhan play when the app is closed?
On Android, yes: it is scheduled with the system’s exact alarm, so it plays with the app closed and the screen locked. Aggressive battery saving on some phones can interfere; the app warns you when that is the case.
Are the times identical to my mosque’s timetable?
Not necessarily. They are calculated with a recognised method and may differ by a few minutes. The method and source are always shown on screen.
Is it paid? Are there ads?
The core features are free. Mihruna shows no ads and never sells your data.
Do times show without internet?
The most recently loaded days are kept on the device, and adhan alarms are scheduled in advance, so they sound even if the connection drops.
